Portraying this as the Chinese economy falling
China’s CPI was published earlier today (August 9, 2023) and it came out -0.3% year on year for the month of July.
The Western mainstream press and economists are portraying this as the Chinese economy falling into deflation but I will try to prove to you that it is not the case.
The Chinese economy is not growing as fast as it used to about a decade ago but it is not in danger of falling into a deflationary trap either in my opinion.
